Thank you

  • Yes this is boot from sd card

  • Hey Rakshit,

    Thank you for your question. My name is Andrew, and I would be happy to help.  I have relayed your question to the team and hope to have a response for you within the next 1-2 business days.

    Best regards,

    Andrew

  • Hey Rakshit,

    Team is still looking into this and will have an update shortly, thank you for your patience.

    Best regards,

    Andrew

  • actually Rakshit and me working on it . trying to boot from sd card , but its not booted to linux completely .

    my observations :

    1. not detecting the SD card in the kernel (mmc1 - sd card )

  • please provide your valuable suggestions to resolve the issue . its greatful to us if u would give the solutions for this

  • we are observing that emmc card (mmc0) only detecting in the kernel and no SDCARD(mmc1) in the kernel , which we noticed this from bootup logs mentioned by rakshit above .

    please find only mmc0 logs not able to find mmc1 (sdcard):

    please help us how to make detect the SDCARD in the linux kernel ?

  • Hello Rakshit & Naresh,

    Thank you for the additional information. In terms of the SD card that is not being detected, I was wondering if you could clarify the following:

    1. Which SDK version is currently being used?
    2. What tool was used to create the SD card? (balenaEtcher, script, bmap-tools)
    3. Is the image flashed to the SD card default or custom?

    Even if the SD card created was verified at an earlier point, it is possible it has now since become corrupted and could require a new installation after formatting.

    Best regards,

    Andrew

  • Hi Andrew ,

    SDK version:08.03.00.19

    Tool : balenetcher

    Image Generation : we used both ways default and custom , but no luck .

    from bootup logs ends with waiting for rootfs  ,please find last 5 lines bootup logs which we got.

  • HI,

    below are the genuine issues , does they solved yet ?

    wiki : https://software-dl.ti.com/processor-sdk-linux-rt/esd/AM62X/08_03_00_19/exports/docs/devices/AM62X/linux/Release_Specific_Release_Notes.html

    Linux kernel known issues ::

    LCPD-28111 am62xx-sk

    wic image flashed sdcard should resize to full image

    LCPD-28110 am62xx-sk uboot and linux cannot boot in UHS speed modes on certain U1 class SD-cards

    due to these issues , our deivce is not boot up through sd card ? can you please confirm ?

  • Hey Naresh,

    Thank you for the additional information, I have copied your attachments over the team and we hope to have an update for you shortly.  I will also reach out directly to the LCPD team about the two errors you inquired about, to see if they are having an effect here.

    Best regards,

    Andrew

  • Hey Naresh,

    Thank you for your patience.  I am still awaiting a response from the LCPD team, but I believe we will have an update ready for you shortly.  In the meantime, can you confirm if the following thread you posted is in relation to this one?: https://e2e.ti.com/support/processors-group/processors/f/processors-forum/1118376/processor-sdk-am62x-not-able-to-detect-sdcard-in-the-kernel-we-cant-see-the-sd-card-mmc1-messages-in-the-bootup-logs-thatswhy-our-am62x-device-is-not-bootup-through-sdcard

    Andrew

  • Hi Andrew ,

    yes , both threads are same used to raised for same issue

  • Hi Andrew ,

    these are SD power supply nnodes from my k3-am625-sk.dts file

  • Hey Naresh,

    Thank you for the additional information.  I did get the following response from the LCPD team on this:

    "

    • Which Model of SD card is used, and what is the model/revision of the board?

    • Is it a TI Am62x SK or a custom board the customer built?

    You can rule out LCPD-28111 – it shouldn’t really matter.

    It could be LCPD-28110 if customer is using UHS cards, but we will need the SD cad brand/model to confirm.

    "

    Thank you again for your patience and we hope to resolve this expediently, once we receive the requested information.

    Best regards,

    Andrew

  • Hi ,

    its customer board.

    actually with the same sdcard we tried to up the am64x board .

    thank you

  • Hi

    please find SD card we are using  :  sd card- sandisk ultra 16gb

    Thanks,

    Naresh

  • Hey Naresh,

    Thank you for the additional information, I have relayed this over to the team and we hope to have an update for you shortly.

    Best regards,

    Andrew

  • may i know , where should i make the changes in the kernel so that sdcard will going to detect in the kernel. please help us asap . thanks .

  • HI Andrew,

    yes we followed the same steps .

    please let us know how to enable the sdcard in the kernel .

    its getting delayed .

    Thanks,

    Naresh

  • Hi Andrew ,

    could you please confirm below marked field should be ACTIVE HIGH or LOW , by default it is ACTIVE_HIGH .

    will it make any differneces ?

    file : arch/arm64/boot/dts/ti/k3-am625-sk.dts

    vdd_mmc1: fixed-regulator-sd {
    /* TPS22918DBVR */
    compatible = "regulator-fixed";
    regulator-name = "vdd_mmc1";
    regulator-min-microvolt = <3300000>;
    regulator-max-microvolt = <3300000>;
    regulator-boot-on;
    enable-active-high;
    vin-supply = <&vcc_3v3_sys>;
    gpio = <&exp1 3 GPIO_ACTIVE_HIGH>;
    };

    Thanks,

    Naresh

  • Hey Naresh,

    I have reached out to the LCPD team to confirm, but we do not believe this setting to be the cause for the behavior that you are observing.  If you did change  this variable to ACTIVCE_LOW, did you observe any different behavior?

    Best regards,

    Andrew

  • no , i didnt tried yet . that pin was sd card load switch , i though to make active low .

    thanks,

    Naresh

  • please help me asap to make detect the sdcard in the kernel.

    what changes/ where we need to change the settings /code so that sdcard will be detect in the kernel.

    thanks,

    Naresh

  • Hey Naresh,

    Thanks for clarifying, I have sent another message to the LCPD team, and will update you tomorrow with their progress.

    Best regards,

    Andrew

  • Hey Naresh,

    Thank you for your patience, I have reached out to the LCPD team again, and received the following response:

    "We see in the logs that most of the regulator-requests are failing – we suspect this is because one of the earlier regulators may be missing in the modified device tree for the custom board"

    Could you please confirm a custom (non-default) dtb file is in use here, as well as what changes were made in the device tree? Feel free to attach the whole dtb file as well.

    Best regards,

    Andrew

  • Hi Andrew ,

    I commented regualators (vdd_mmc1 & vdd_sd_dv ) regulator nodes from k3-am625-sk.dts from linux  then sdcard is detecting but its not stable , continoulsy logs getting .

    please fins my dts files

  • Hey Naresh,

    Thank you for the additional information, I have relayed this over to the LCPD team and we hope to have an update for you shortly.

    Best regards,

    Andrew

  • Hey Naresh,

    The team suspects you may have UHS mode enabled, which may be preventing SD card recognition.  We recommend disabling this mode via the following steps:  https://software-dl.ti.com/processor-sdk-linux/esd/AM62X/08_03_00_19/exports/docs/devices/AM62X/linux/Release_Specific_Migration_Guide.html#am62-sd-uhs-speed-modes-enable

    Please let us know if completing these steps rectifies the issue you are observing.

    Best regards,

    Andrew
