Customer having trouble with (CAN and) USB Interfaces on this EVM.

2. How to configure/enable the type A USB connectors at reference designator U5 on the J7 common processor board ?

(one of the other USB ports works with external USB hub only).

This document does not refer to the type A USB connectors at J6 on J721 EVM. This is really what I need to enable

Hi David ,

Please use the below patch if you want to enable stacked 2.0 usb

Note :In J7200 either usbc or usb2.0 can be enabled at a time not both .

OK thanks, but what would be the process if I wanted to do this modification by using dtc instead

device tree compiler (dtc) its a means of decompiling and compiling a device trees to allow editing in ascii. If you give me a modified dtb file I can use dtc to see what changed https://manpages.org/dtc

Also if I was to use the patch, which patch directory would I need to put the patch in, there are several in the SDK tree

The changes in the above patch are in dts file you can generate the dtb .

to generate the dtb you can run the command

make linux-dtbs on the top level directory of the linux sdk.

dtb file:

the patch include change which change the value of USB_MUX so that it select usb_hub instead of usbc.

I made the above patch on sdk 8.0 but it should be same for the 8.4 sdk

Is ti-processor-sdk-linux-j7200-evm-08_04_00_06/board-support/linux-5.10.120+gitAUTOINC+95b90aa828-g95b90aa828/patches the correct place to put the patch prior to doing a build ?

If your question is will it automatically get applied if i keep my patch under patches directory the answer is no you have to manually apply the patch .
