- 1k ohm resistor will usually work just fine when opposing an internal pull. However, people have used 100 ohms or less for pins that absolutely were required to be held to a value to ensure proper device operation (i.e. resets, interrupts), especially when process variation had the potential to cause issues.
- For pulls in the same direction as Internal Pull, 4.7k ohms is a common resistor value that has been used for a long time. However, we can also use relatively weak 20k ohm and it should not cause any issues if it pulls in the same direction as the internal pull. Either of these values would likely be ok.
Caution: Another thing to be concerned about are other resistors on the pin that could cause a voltage divider that would put the pin into a state that is neither a high or a low. This should be looked at when considering the value, also.
