PROCESSOR-SDK-AM64X: AM64xx IBIS MODEL compliant with Cadence SystemSI ?

Hello,

It seems that sprm730x.ibis model is not compliant with Cadence SystemSI : 

  • there is some TAB into IBIS file => not supported
  • there is no pin mapping section which help to define : 
    • [Pin Mapping] pulldown_ref pullup_ref gnd_clamp_ref power_clamp_ref ext_ref

Is it possible to generate an IBIS file compliant with Cadence SystemSI?

    Please refer below inputs from the simulation expert 

    • there is some TAB into IBIS file => not supported

    SDM>> It is not clear exactly what is the issue here. Is this an error message reported by SystemSI?

    • there is no pin mapping section which help to define : 
      • [Pin Mapping] pulldown_ref pullup_ref gnd_clamp_ref power_clamp_ref ext_ref

    SDM>> There is a pin mapping section near the top of the ibis file sprm730c.ibs. If you search for “[Pin]” it shows the BGA pin mapping vs net name mapping. Pl confirm that they are using the correct ibis model file sprm730c.ibs

    Is it possible to generate an IBIS file compliant with Cadence SystemSI?

    SDM>> There is no compliance issue with the AM64x IBIS model sprm730c.ibs. The IBIS checker has been run on this model and both IBISCHK5 and IBISCHK6 flag zero errors. The customer is requested to follow up with the EDA vendor to see why the tool is unable to work with this IBIS file.

    I agree with you, I've check your ibis file and it works with parsers parsers ibischk5.exe & ibischk6_64.exe & ibischk7_64.exe . So it's more an issue of our SystemSI tool => I'm going to investigate.

    Concerning [Pin Mapping] section, I'm still confused, because this section is not present into IBIS file (only  [Pin] section availale), futhermore it seems to be mandatory to perform a power aware simulation (according to https://ibis.org/summits/jan16/katz1.pdf ). And I'm not able to find out this section into your IBIS file.

    Do you confirm that your IBIS file is able to be used to perform a power aware simulation? (even in [IBIS Ver]   5.1 ?)

    Concerning power aware need, yes : [Pin Mapping] section is needed to perform power aware simulation.

    Please check following diagram extracted from Technical Note from Micron (which provide  the [Pin Mapping] section into their LPDDR4 IBIS model) :

    Yes the IBIS file is able to perform a power aware simulation as it has the ISSO_PU and ISSO_PD curves that are required for doing so.

    It's a good news that IBIS model support power aware simulation. Is it possible to add [Pin Mapping] section into IBIS file?

    Even I've to do it on my own side with the risk to introduce some errors (i'm not really confident to patch the IBIS model you provide), futhermore other manufacturer provide [Pin Mapping] section into their IBIS files.

    It would be helpful if Schneider can provide an example of exactly what they are asking for. I am not familiar with this [Pin Mapping] section in the IBIS.
