[FAQ] AM625 / AM623 / AM625SIP / AM625-Q1 Custom board hardware design – Display Parallel Interface (DPI) 24-bit RGB

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM625, AM62P, AM62A3, AM62P-Q1, AM62A7, AM62A7-Q1, AM62A3-Q1

Hi TI Experts,

I have the below queries regarding the DPII interface

  1. We want to use an RGB Display with AM625 Processor. It seems MIPI-DPI Interface of the processor is similar to RGB Interface.
Are there any Differences between the two interfaces or can we connect the RGB Display directly to the AM625?
  2. Need guidance to map SoC parallel data to LCD RGB input
  3. Would the above queries be valid for other family of processors?

Let me know your thoughts.

  • Hi Board designers,

Refer below inputs for the DPI related queries.

    1. We want to use an RGB Display with AM625 Processor. It seems MIPI-DPI Interface of the processor is similar to RGB Interface.
Are there any Differences between the two interfaces or can we connect the RGB Display directly to the AM625?
Yes, it is the same and you can directly connect RGB display to AM625.

    2. Need guidance to map SoC parallel data to LCD RGB input
Refer below section of the TRM
    AM62x
    12.9.1.2.1 DSS Parallel Interface
    12.9.1.2.1.1 Pixel Data Formats
    AM62A
    12.10.2.1 DSS Parallel Interface
    12.10.2.1.1 Pixel Data Formats

Example mapping shown below for quick reference.

3.Would the above queries be valid for other family of processors?

    This should be valid for AM62A7, AM62A7-Q1, AM62A3, AM62A3-Q1 and AM62P, AM62P-Q1
