DRA821U: Please help analyze the issue of network connectivity

Hi TI，

Our client has two cars that occasionally experience network connectivity during testing.

TI SDK version: pdk_J7200_08_00_00_37.

Hardware connection as shown in the figure: 821 is connected to TC397 through switch, and to PC through phy dp83tg720s.

Network blockage refers to the situation where both TC397 and PC cannot ping 821, and executing ifconfig/ping within 821 will result in stuck output without any information.
Captured slog、core and tarcelog as attached.
We have contacted QNX to assist with the analysis, and QNX suspects that it is cpsw_start() function is blocked, QNX feedback is shown in the screenshot.

Please help analyze whether the problem is related to cpsw_start() ?
Or are there any other directions for investigation?

Hi,

As you mentioned pdk, I assume you are using ethfw as your ethernet controller. Can you confirm this.

Are all of your ports connected in switch configuration, or are some of them in MA only mode as well?

Update more information:

The MCU2_0 run normally because MCU2_0 can print link down/link up if plugging and unplugging network cables.

The development environment is SDK8.0 (Freertos+QNX).

We have already use the patch that mentioned on below E2E: https://e2e.ti.com/support/processors-group/processors/f/processors-forum/1207600/dra821-dra821-qnx-execute-ifconfig-will-be-stuck-on-qnx-site

We have dumped core file that let QNX site to help analysis it. QNX located this issue may be caused by our driver stuck in a loop.

Please help check whether there is any problem with the code replied by QNX.

It's use ethfw run on MCU2_0 and all of port are configure switch port

Hello Kanjia,

Spent sometime to review internally the issue, the backtrace and the associate change and can confirm that the patch you shared provides an exit criteria for the for loop and should definitely exit from the cpsw_start() function.
