TDA4VM-Q1: What's unintentional power loss event for TDA4VM eMMC driver?

Part Number: TDA4VM-Q1

Hi, Expert.

As title description.

Question from customer, and I am still try to clarify it.

eMMC JEDC spec. has one comment  "POWER_OFF_NOTIFICATION is set to 0x01 (POWER_ON) since unintentional power loss event may still occur"

(If you have this document, pls tell me which documents decriable about this part (Table) )

Question 1 : I am not sure, why should we set 0x01 (POWER_ON) since unintentional power loss event may still occur?

Question 2 : What's our eMMC driver (or hardware) reaction when eMMC unintentional power loss? I need more information about this part.

Question 3 : When we execute "reboot" command in Linux console, Do we also sent "POWER_OFF_NOTIFICATION" to eMMC?

  • Hi Gibbs

I Think you misinterpret the comment it is

NOTE e•MMC device should be able to guard against sudden power loss even when
POWER_OFF_NOTIFICATION is set to 0x01 (POWER_ON) since unintentional power loss event may still occur.
