DM816x video security daughter card (TMDXVSDC8168) details

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TVP5158

Hi all and Jim,

Thanks for your reply.

Please clarify on the following points.

1) Does DM816x EVM (tmdxevm8168) and DM816x video security daughter card (TMDXVSDC8168) combination, support stereo processing. (Simultaneous video/frame capture from two cameras)? Does the software (drivers) require any adaptation to do this?

2) What interfaces(analog and digital) does the daughter card support to connect with camera?

3) What is the maximum resolution, maximum fps and format (progressive or interlaced) which  DM816x EVM can receive from the daughter card?

4) I could not find the details (datasheet) of "DM816x video security daughter card (TMDXVSDC8168)" and where to procure them.  Searching internet I found board supplier(avnet) for the board. When I try to get in touch with their customer support, I got the following reply.

"The item you enquired is not available for customer to purchase on the website, we are checking whether it can be supported in other way, our staff from Call Center will let you know if they can support this item."

5) Also, I want to use FPGA EVM to perform video co processing along with the  DM816x EVM and would like to know whether using the video security daughter card would conflict its usage. (Assuming GPMC expansion port as preferred choice to work with FPGA co processing).

Kindly provide us with details on above points.

Thanks,

Hari

  • Hello,

The EVM and VS daughter card combination only supports multichannel capture of standard definition ntsc/pal cameras. It doesn't support hdmi rx or any other video capture.

    Marc

  • Hi Marc,

Still we are not able to converge to a decision

Can you confirm whether it is possible to achieve simultaneous video capture (stereo video capture) using DM816x EVM + VS capture card.

According to the C6A8168 integra data sheet, processor has two video port(channels) each capable of handling 1080P60 inputs. So looks like the processor is capable of supporting two simultaneous capture of video data (frame captured at same instant of time). But how can we achieve our requirement with the DM816x EVM?

Also, Iam still not able to get details on the Video security daughter card. I am trying to get details from local distributers and seeing no response. Is it non- existent ??

    Thanks and Regards,

    Hari

  • Hi,

C6A8168 integra has two video input ports and each port can handle upto 1080p60 inputs. But on VS capture card we have connected TVP5158 encoders. Which can capture multiplexed streams upto SD resolution. If you are interested in two 1080P60 capture you should be opting for VC capture card where you can capture dual 1080P60 videos.

  • Hi Hardik Shah,

How can get the details on VC capture card (datasheet and how to order)? I am still not able to get in touch with a TI representative to share any further information from our side if required to procure and get support for the board.

     Please guide us.

    Thanks and Regards,

    Hari

  • Hello,

The VC capture card and information is only available through a special NDA, so you would need to work through your local TI representative.  If you do not hear back from your local rep soon let us know.

    Regards,
    Marc

  • Hi,

I initiated a TI service request "SR#1-684465332"  on 1st of this month. Also made a request for a TI-Representative to support us in the follow ups. Till this time I was not contacted by any TI-Representative. Is this normal?

    Thanks and Regards,

    Hari

  • Hari,

I will check and let you know.

    Regards,
    Marc

  • Hari,

Sorry for the delay in closing on your question.  The VC daughtercard is not a catalog offering and has special licensing restrictions.

It is not available for resale.

    Regards,

    Tom

  • Hi Tom Ballew,

I am still not able to get in touch with the local TI representative to address/clarify to TI regarding the license conformance from our side. Hoping to see some light.

Also we are not distributor for the product.

    Thanks and Regards,

    Hari
