Hello Team,
Can we use 2 x 16 Dual channel LPDDR4X SDRAM having 1GB size (Kingstone: EMMC04G-WT32, Skyhigh: S40FC004C1B1) with AM62A processor?
Thanks,
Virag Shah
Thanks James for response.
Can you please confirm if we can use 2 x 16 Dual channel LPDDR4 SDRAM having 1GB size(Micron:MT53E256M32D1KS-046 IT:L , Kingstone:B1621PM2FDGUKW) with AM62A processor?
Thanks,
Virag
You should only have point to point connections on the data bus. If you use 2 devices, you would have to split the data bus in a T-topology, which we do not support

James
Hello JJD,
I would like to clarify, we won't be using both the LPDDR4 devices in same design. Only one of them would be kept in the design.
So can you please confirm if both the LPDDR parts can be compatible with the AM62A processor?
Thanks
Virag
Ok, thanks for the clarification. We technically only support one physical LPDDR4 device, because of routing concerns. You could choose a device with multiple dies in one package to achieve the equivalent to what you are looking for (ie dual channel, dual rank design). There may be some routing challenges with placing two x16 devices on the board, and i have not seen any other customer designs with that topology. Ensure you follow all the design guidelines in our DDR layout appnote here: https://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/sprad66

Hello James,
Thanks for the response, but that was not exactly what we were asking.
We wanted confirmation that the below LPDDR4 device can be interfaced with AM62A processor.
1. Micron:MT53E256M32D1KS-046 IT:L
We would finalize the above part in our design and follow the design guidelines you shared in previous reply.
Thanks
Hi Virag,
yes, the Micron device you quote looks compatible with AM62A.
Note that the Kingston device you quoted, which also looks compatible, has a different topology, it is a dual die device (each channel on a different die), whereas the Micron device is a single die. This might require slightly different software configuration for each device.
Regards,
James
