PROCESSOR-SDK-J722S: Unable to boot from emmc SD card

Part Number: PROCESSOR-SDK-J722S

Tool/software:

I am having a similar issue while booting the J722S EVM from emmc SD card (even for the prebuilt SD card coming with the EVM). There are some errors showing while booting:

"...

## Error: "main_cpsw0_qsgmii_phyinit" not defined

The full boot error log is as shown inf the following file.

  • Hi JS Wang,

It is not clear if you are using eMMC or SD card. Note that they are two different booting peripherals. Can you clarify?

Also, from the logs you shared in the second post, we are unclear on what issue you are asking us to support. Can you explain in detail?

    Thanks.

  • Hi Praveen,

Thank you for help. I am using SD card to boot the EVM.

The issue I am having is that the evm just keep looping the booting and rebooting, and can not get into the login in stage. Based on the log, I can see there are several errors but I am not sure if they are causing the boot failure.

    " ...

    Failed to load 'boot.scr'

    ..."

  • Hi JS Wang,

Thanks for confirming that you are trying SD card boot.

We are hoping you are using the pre-released binaries that are posted on the ti.com --> https://www.ti.com/tool/download/PROCESSOR-SDK-LINUX-J722S .

Also, we would like to check on how you created the SD Card -  Did you copy the files boot-adas-j722s-evm.tar.gz and  tisdk-adas-image-j722s-evm.tar.xz to the respective SD card partitions? Or did you follow the steps mentioned here - LINK

    Failed to load 'boot.scr'
    574 bytes read in 32 ms (16.6 KiB/s)
    Loaded env from uEnv.txt
    Importing environment from mmc1 ...
    ## Error: "main_cpsw0_qsgmii_phyinit" not defined

These errors are not fatal; they are just warnings and must not affect the boot. We suspect the SD card contents were not created properly, so we suggest re-creating it and trying again.

    Thanks.

  • Thanks for help. I am using the pre-released binary SD card coming with the EVM. It has been working in previous  several months. It just suddenly stop working toward booting into login stage since a couple weeks ago. I will try to rebuild another one and test it again.

  • Hi JS Wang,

Thanks for letting us know that it was working for several months before stopping working. So, it is likely that the SD card files could have been corrupted. Do let us know.

    Thanks.

  • Thank you, Praveen. recreate the SD card solve the problem. Thanks.
