AM6442: AM64x SDKs Linux & MCU + 10.x need support graceful shutdown

Per Nick Saulnier: "I have confirmed that there is a bug in the remoteproc driver so that graceful shutdown does not work properly in SDK 10.0. "

I would need to remain on the v 9.2 SDKs before I can migrate to the v 10.1 (or later rev) SDKs in 2025.

Should confirm also for AM62x SDKs. Need better regression testing between major SDK releases.

Hello Jim,

I have verified with the developer that there is an issue with the R5F remoteproc driver - looks like a patch that was added for some other devices with R5F broke graceful shutdown for AM64x on SDK 9.2.1 and SDK 10. We will fix this for SDK 10.1. There should already be a test case for graceful shutdown - in the bug report, I have marked down that we should analyze the test case to see why this wasn't found sooner.

For now, during your development, please load new firmware into the R5F by pointing the remoteproc link to the updated firmware, and rebooting the board, as discussed here:

Nick:

As some A53/R5 IPC & rpc routines are shared with other Sitara products, I suggest you also check the AM62 lines as well.

Agreed. Will make sure to check all the other devices as well to make sure MCU domain R5F or M4F are not impacted for AM62x, AM62Ax, AM62Px.

Nick: I saw closed that (14) PROCESSOR-SDK-AM64X: AM64x support for graceful shutdown documented into Linux Academy - Processors forum - Processors - TI E2E support forums ; now that we know there is a problem with the SDKs v10.0 implementation, please make sure Bin and you have the necessary rectified graceful shutdown info populated into the SDKs v 10.1 Linux academies.

Hello Jim,

We are still working on the SDK 10.0 version of the academies. I will add a note about SDK 10.0 graceful shutdown broken in the SDK 10.0 release for the appropriate devices.
