BEAGL-BONE-BLACK: Temporary System Files Cleanup After Power Loss

Part Number: BEAGL-BONE-BLACK

Tool/software:

Hi Processors team,

I have a customer who is developing with the BeagleBone Black, and will move to a discrete AM335x + TI PMIC solution once they move to production.

During boot up, they use systemd services to automatically log into the “debian user” then launch an X11 GUI running on the Beaglebone without using the gdm desktop manager. This GUI is the only application running on the debian system.

The customer is simulating a power loss event on their Beaglebone and found that about 10% to 20% of the time the GUI did not load after a simulated power lost. They have cleaned the /tmp/* files which removes the .X*-lock, serverauth.* and the .Xauthority files. However, the problem still exists. Are there other files they need to "pre-clean" on the system before they launch the GUI application after a power loss event?

If you need additional details, please let me know. This was all the original information the customer provided about this issue.

Sincerely,

David

  • Hi David,

Since this is a custom software application and not TI developed / tested code, there is minimal support we can provide on the E2E Forums since its beyond our support scope. If you help us understand the portions of issue that involve TI developed code, we can provide support on those items.

    Thanks,
    Anshu

  • Hi Anshu,

That's what I thought was the case. I just happened to see on E2E there were Beagle Bone support requests, and was confused to see that we were giving support to a 3rd party board.

I will ask to see their code, to see if the code they are having problem with is TI developed, and will get back to you on this.

A question I have; Is there a contact at BeagleBoard who would be able to support this request? The customer uploaded their question to the BeagleBoard forums, so I just wanted to see if there was a contact I could reach out to highlight the request.

    Sincerely,

    David

  • Hi David,

    I provided a contact offline.

    Thanks,

    Anshu
