Hi TI Experts,

I am currently using the Jacinto7 J721E/DRA829/TDA4VM Evaluation board, the SDK is Linux Processor SDK 10.00.

I want to enable CPSW9G via linux, not via Ethfw. How should I modify it?

I am currently referring to the method in the link below, but it seems to be unsuccessful. I think if it is successful, I can ping to eth1 or eth2 from the J7x QUAD PORT ETH BORD interface. Is there anything else I need to pay attention to?

Hi,

Which overlay is enabled from uEnv.txt file? is it "k3-j721e-evm-quad-port-eth-exp.dtbo"?

Also, please confirm have you soft linked IPC echo test binary to MCU2_0 core?

Can you please share the Linux kernel log with us?

Also, log of below command after booting to Linux.
# ls -l /lib/firmware

Hi,

Can you please run the following command from u-boot and share the log with us, to check overlay is applied or not?

# run envboot
# prientenv name_overlays

Hi,

"name_overlays" was not configured correctly and "saveenv" failed to execute.

I tried to manually modify "name_overlays" and then boot, but I still didn't see eth1&eth2.log as attachment.setenv_linux_log_20250107.txt

can you please run the steps shared above only.
# run envboot
# prientenv name_overlays

If name_overlays not showing anything, please check your boot partition of SD card what is added to name_overlays.

Can you confirm, have you followed below steps in FAQ.

Need to add the device-tree overlays to the uEnv.txt file (in boot partition of SD card if SD boot mode is used), as shown below to load the driver in every boot.

name_overlays=ti/<overlay-file-name> OR
name_overlays=<overlay-file-name>

The overlay addition with ti/<overlay> or <overlay> depends upon following from u-boot/include/environment/ti/mmc.env. if ti/ already present like below then use <overlay>, if not, use ti/<overlay>.

Yes, I followed these steps you provided to configure. But I'm using version 10.0 SDK and it seems I can't use "saveenv" causing the configuration to fail. I currently configure name_overlays through j721e.env. Is this method feasible? Attached is the current LOG.

Can you add overlay in uEnv.txt file in SD card boot partition and check once.
Are you using SD boot mode?

Hi Sudheer,

Yes, currently SD boot mode is mainly used. I have added overlays in uEnv.txt file, but the result is that eth1 and eth2 are missing. Please refer to the attachment for the full log.

Hi,

I have verified SDK 10.0 on TDA4VM EVM with "ti/k3-j721e-evm-quad-port-eth-exp.dtbo" from name_overlays, it is working as expected.
Please refer to the Ethernet interface captured below after boot.

Also, refer to content of uEnv.txt file in boot partition on my side.

Also, check once have you created SD card with default kernel image (pre-built kernel image) as suggested in SDK Documentation.

You have to change the Port configuration as required.
When you using CPSW Ports for Serial Interfaces like SGMII/QSGMII/USXGMII/XFI you need to update the SerDes as well.
Please refer to TRM for CPSW Port to SerDes lane and instances mapping.

Also, refer to below Linux documentations for Network port & PHY configuration.
