DRA829J: MCRC: supported polynomials

Hi TI-Team,

in the new DRA829 TRM rev. D there is a change in the MCRC chapter, seems than more polynomials are supported now (previously it was CRC64-ISO only).

On the other hand I do not see any difference in the TRM supplement with registers definition - none of the registers describes the  selection of used polynomial.

Therefore I have the following questions:

  1. Does MCRC IP in DRA829J support CRC32 polynomial?
  2. If answer to the question 1 is yes, which registers control it?

    I believe that the TRM should still read as a CRC64-ISO only, else as you mention bitfields are required to change the polynomial setting.

    If IP supports polynomials selection and registers definition is just missed in the TRM, it will be a good news for us.

    Current investigation is pointing to a documentation filter, leading incorrect polynomials being listed in the TDA4x TRMs.   Still awaiting official confirmation on this.

    In meantime recommend proceeding on any ongoing development, with understanding that only a single polynomial is supported, as was present in earlier revisions of the DRA829 TRM.

  • Apologies Dmitry, I had seen an offline thread which you were on and had thought this issue was closed. 

    There is only a single polynomial supported by the MCRC block as per previous response, the TRM will be updated accordingly.

    offline discussion was mainly about 64bit polynomial and why it's not OK for us.

    So I still had some little hope that others can be supported.
