Hi Team,

one general question about USB Host boot mode for AM625.

I have a customer using the "PHYTC-3P-KIT-AM62" and it is wondering that the USB Host boot mode is not suggested.

Could you please confirm if USB MSC boot mode is supported on the AM625 EVM? Do you have a guideline how to develop it?

Hi Marcela,

Yes, USB0 port can be configured to USB host boot on AM625. Please check the following thread for reference.

But please note that due to Errata i2328. some USB MSC devices might not boot on AM625.

Hi Liu,

thank you very much for the quick response.

Could you narrow down which USB MSCs it works with or does “some USB MSC devices might not boot” affect a large number of MSCs or just a few?

Is there a general plan to fix this BUG?

Hi Sebastian,

From our internal use and customers' feedback, we know only a very few USB thumb drives are affected by i2328. If you only use USB MSC boot in your development environment, you should be safe to test and use USB MSC boot; however, if your project will use USB MSC boot in final products, and you don't have control on which USB MSC device will be used, it is not recommended to use USB MSC boot.
