Hi, Dear Expert

Customer want to use DM R5 for chip (or another device) failed diagnostic , and prefer program application on DM R5.

Few question here,

(1) Can DM R5 (wakeup domain) access main domain or mcu domain I/O peripheral?

(2) As far as I know, DM is part of sysfw, it dedicated runs on wakeup domain R5. Does DM source code also need to get approval from BU?

(3) Is it possible program customized application on DM R5 core without get DM source?

Hello,

1. Yes WKUP Domain can access other domain peripherals.

2. DM means Device manager not sysfw or TIFS this is sciserver running to address the RM , PM calls from other cores.

3. You can run other application on DM core if you have an OS running on WKUP_R5 . You can create 2 different tasks , one task is to run sciserver(DM) and other task whatever your application needs. But if it is baremetal , then it is not possible

Are you sure that WKUP domain can access mcu domain I/O peripheral? When FFI is enabled, is WKUP domain still able to access mcu domain I/O peripheral?

Update my opinion,

* TDA4-EN FFI should be disable by default, so DM can access MCU domain peripheral.

* Once you enable FFI, cross domain peripheral access should be prohibited. Because your safety goal is try to monitor MCUSS, so you could enable "partial" MCU isolation. But I think TDA4-EN software should be not support by current status.

* Recommend you use "external hardware peripheral " bridge MAIN (DM-R5) /MCU domain when you enable FFI.

* You need to consider one case : Does A53 & DM R5 reset isolation? I think the answer is no, and what's the impact to you?

Hello,

Yes . By default you can access cross domain peripherals.

Most communication between the MCU island and the rest of the SoC can be conducted via internal SPI connections. These connections
allow for safe communications to isolate the MCU island from faults in the rest of the SoC. The MCU island integrates communication peripherals such as MCSPI and MCAN which are expected to be used for safety critical communication, so if the main SoC goes down, the MCU island can communicate this information to the rest of the system.
