AM62P-Q1: Temperature dependency in power estimation tool

Part Number: AM62P-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi everybody,

We are using a AM62P-Q1 processor in our project and we would like to ask a few questions about power estimation tool:

1. How can we associate the processor power consumption to the ambient temperature?

2. Why don't the power consumptions change when the temperature junction is modified in the power estimation tool sheet?

3. If the power consumption dependancy from the temperature can't be considered with power estimation tool calculations, how can we consider the ambient temperature (25°C) and 85°C temperature processor power consumptions?

Thank you.

Best regards,

Michele.

  • Hi,

Thanks for reaching out. We will review the information/questions and provide an update within 24Hrs.

    Thanks,

    Brenda

  • Hi,

Thanks for your patience. I'm not able to replicate the issue. Could you share a copy of the PET and corresponding results? The dynamic power should be the same but the leakage is expected to change based on Tj.

Also, could you check the default excel settings and try the following: go to the excel advance settings, uncheck “Use system separators” and use “.” for decimal and “,” for thousands.

    Thanks,

    Brenda

  • Hi Brenda,

we tried to uncheck the box in the excel advanced settings to remove separators, but the result still remained the same for each Tj. I attach you both file and screenshot of our PET.

Are there some permissions that we have to enable in order to activate the PET correctly? If so, can you share them with us?

Is there a guide to enable the PET calculations correctly in every computer we need to use them?

May the PET has some excel version preferences? We use the latest version, may this could be a problem for PET calculations to work properly

    Thank you for your support.

    Best regards.

    Michele.

  • Hi,

What excel "systems separators" are you currently using? Could you share a capture?

I'm not able to replicate the same issue. The capture below shows the power estimates when running your use case.

    Thanks,

    Brenda

  • Hi Brenda,

Now i can run succesfully the PET excel sheet. The problem was i didn't set the system separators correctly. Once i set .” for decimal and “,” for thousands, the results changed for different temperatures. Thank you for your support.

    Best regards,

    Michele

  • Glad to hear the issue has been resolved. Thanks for letting us know.

    Thanks,

    Brenda
