Hello,

I'm looking to use the AM335x processor family for a new design and I'm looking for some data on power consuption estimates in the low power modes. I see the type of information that I'm looking for is available for the AM1808:

Do you know if this type of data is available?

I see that the AM35xx and AM335x families have power consumption estimates for running operating systems and doing various tasks (http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/AM335x_Power_Consumption_Summary), but my target application is a portable low power device and I am convinced that the performance of these devices will be more than enough for my project when executing, but I need more data on power consumption for the low power modes.

The software optimization and power characterization for the low power modes are still on going. The total device power consumption archived by DeepSleep0 is 5 mW on the ZCE (13x13) package EVM at this point. The power seems to be slightly higher on the ZCZ (15x15) package but it's not fully characterized yet. The RTC-only mode power would be lower than 1 mW but the wake-up latency is much longer as it requires full power-up sequence and ROM boot.

Kazunobu,

Could you please confirm that AM335x ZCE does not support DVFS / smartreflex meaning that you can not change the OPP dynamically?
Is it documented somewhere? I have not seen this in the AM335x datasheet but only in the TPS65217B datasheet (at page 2 of SLVSB64E).

Might be worth to documented in the power spreadsheet to ensure people will not overlook this.

I want to get a more accurate numerical value about the total device power consumption when AM335x is the RTC-only mode.

When AM335x is not the RTC-only mode, the VDDS_RTC power is about 0.6mW.

I know that when AM1808 is the RTC power only, the total device power consumption is very little.

I think that when AM335x is the RTC-only mode, there is less VDDS_RTC power.

Hi Kazunobu Shin,

When the AM335x power estimation tool (PET) is configured as the RTC-only mode its report shows 0.08mW (Total).

Is this right?

Hi Kazunobu Shin,

The attached PET report (report-am335x_pet_input_adv_RTC_Only.xls) shows 0.08mW.

Another attached file (am335x_pet_input_adv_RTC_Only.xls) was used for input to PET.
Is not there the mistake in the input file?

Our customer estimates the AM335x power consumption to estimate the battery capacity on their board.

When AM335x is the RTC-only mode, can all power supplies except the VDDS_RTC be OFF?

I could find this answer in TRM(SPRUH73F).

In RTC-only mode, only the RTC power supply is expected to be ON. All the remaining supplies are expected to be OFF.
