AM62P-Q1: Boot Mode Configuration for OSPI is Confusing

Part Number: AM62P-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM62P

Tool/software:

Hello TI Community,

I am working with AM62P Processor, specially part number " XAM62P54AUMHIAMH" , and  am encountering some confusion regarding the correct boot Mode Configuration for OSPI.

The Technical Reference manual (TRM) for this specific part lists the following boot Mode setting for OSPI:

BOOT MODE[15:8] : 0100 0000

BOOT MODE [7:0] : 1101 0001

However, I have found conflicting information in the AM62Px MCU+SDK documentation, where the OSPI boot Mode is often listed as BOOT MODE [7:0] : 1100 1110.

This discrepancy has created confusion, and I need to confirm the correct settings for my specific part.

My questions are:

1. Is the TRM value of 1101 0001 for BOOTMODE [7:0] the correct and definitive setting for OSPI boot on the XAM62P54AUMHIAMH part?

2. Can you explain the reason for the different boot mode values in the TRM versus the MCU+ SDK documentation? Does this relate to the specific OSPI flash memory or a different boot protocol (e.g., 1-1-4 vs. 1-1-8 mode)?

3. Are there any known errata or specific hardware considerations I should be aware of when implementing this boot mode on my custom board?

Best regards,

  • Hi Arun,

I can understand why it can cause some confusion, boot mode pins setting mentioned in MCU+SDK documentation is for the xSPI boot mode, you can check the boot mode pin configuration of xSPI in TRM and verify the same.

    Best Regards,

    Meet.
