J784S4XEVM: Need Explanation in the SGMII-RGMII mode

Hi

I’m using the following chain: CPSW MAC —(SGMII)—> DP83869 —(RGMII)—> ADIN1100.

I understand the DP83869 supports SGMII<->RGMII bridge operation.

My questions:

In SGMII→RGMII bridge mode, is the ADIN1100 (downstream RGMII PHY) the authoritative source of link status/capabilities, which the DP83869 then reports upstream to the CPSW/MAC?

Practically: will the DP83869 and the CPSW only show “link = yes” after the ADIN1100 reports link = yes, or are there configuration cases where DP83869/CPSW will show link up even while ADIN1100 is down?

Please confirm recommended register/strap settings to ensure correct propagation of link and autoneg
