Hi,

Processor SDK - 11.01.05.03

MCU SDK - 11_00_00_15

I want to flash the SBL and App Images to OSPI through network, instead of flashing using these Flashing tools which is provided-https://software-dl.ti.com/mcu-plus-sdk/esd/AM64X/latest/exports/docs/api_guide_am64x/TOOLS_FLASH.html.

Can you please suggest the approach to Flash directly from host system to OSPI without using Serial Port, when there is no option in custom board for SD card having Linux Image so that we could have tried to use MTD with TFTP.

Hi Amrutha,

If you are using a custom board with USB exposed, you can use DFU boot, where you can send the Linux image over USB. You can find the instructions to use DFU boot mode here in our documentation:
https://software-dl.ti.com/mcu-plus-sdk/esd/AM64X/latest/exports/docs/api_guide_am64x/EVM_SETUP_PAGE.html#BOOTMODE_DFU

In case the USB is not exposed, you could consider Ethernet flashing, but I would have to check internally regarding this for production usecase, since it is not available OOB, and an errata related to CPSW.

If you need further clarification on the Ethernet boot mode, please let us know, and we will check if it can be used for production.

Hi Amrutha,

The Ethernet boot mode is not available for AM243x and AM64x devices due to an errata. So, we suggest customers to use serial interface for loading SBL, and then receive the App images via Ethernet. We have a reference example available to enable you with that.

You can work with Ethernet boot mode for your development process if you prefer that way, but we do not recommend using ethernet boot mode in production environment.

You can find the details of the sample application to enable sending application images via ethernet in the following link. It also has instructions to use Ethernet boot mode:

python fota_enet_uniflash.py --cfg=sbl_prebuilt/am64x-evm/fota_enet_app.cfg,
fota_enet_uniflash.py and fota_enet_app.cfg is not available for the above sdk.

The FAQ has been updated with the fota_enet_uniflash.py and fota_enet_app.cfg files.
Additionally, the ENET FOTA example will be available in the Beyond-SDK repository soon.

Hi Amrutha,

Yes, it is available, but has very limited customer adoption, and TI doesn't recommend it as production feature. Please let us know the current available media for flashing so that we can try to help you with any other method possible.

Can you still consider an option to add USB peripheral to the custom board?
