Image Processing Demo NOR Boot - MAD

Sohal,

Please verify your switch settings and jumper positions. The documentation can be confusing with ON/OFF and 0/1, but if you are careful you can get them right. And verify your cables and connections.

Otherwise, more information will be needed before anyone can help. This should work as described.

Dear RandyP,

The connections and switch settings are all verified and correct. I did the steps as in the post and referring to the guides. Since am using MCSDK v2.0.5.17, used the start address 0x9e000000 and branch address 0x9e001040. 

Some doubts

• What should be the start address in nor_writer_input.txt. (which by default is 0x0)
• At what location be the mcip-c6678-le.bin be loaded to in the memory browser. (0x80000000 or 0x9e000000)
• What should be the start address there?

The bin file should be loaded to 0x80000000 during the nor writer process. The start address should be 0x9e000000 as this is the start address where the MAD utility will put the code for executing.

I think you might have covered most of the steps. I just want to get a sequence for my understanding.

1. Test the POST in the MCSDK 2.0.5

2. Test a simple SPI boot.

3. Test the Image processing demo in just one core.

4. Test the MAD demo example in the folder.

5. Test the original code that you have.

If you stuck in anything less that step 5, it will give us a great inside where you got suck. Else we need to go step by step from there.

1. POST was done succesfully. No errors.
2. How to do this?
3. I dont have the demo for one core. I think the demo tries to initialise all the cores in IPC_start().

I have follow the Wiki, change i2cConfig file, write the demo on NOR, and nothing happen when I put DIP on NOR position.

Have you find a solution ?

Have you try to execute your MAD binary with CCS ? (To be sure that your MAD file is ok)

Hi Sohal,

You will not get any output on the terminal. After booting did you try to connect to core0. The program counter should be in local L2. Also check register A1. it should have value 11223344.

When I tried to connect to core0 I got

Connecting Target...
C66xx_0: GEL Output: DSP core #0
C66xx_0: GEL Output: No initialization performed since bootmode = 0x00000005 
C66xx_0: GEL Output: You can manually initialize with GlobalDefaultSetup

So, I initialised GlobalDefaultSetup.
Then I checked Register A1 which showed  0x00000005.

I also have a similar problem. Please give me your advice.
I can see the following IBL message in the serial port console, but the image processing demo in MAD image does not start.

IBL version: 1.0.0.13
IBL: PLL and DDR Initialization Complete
IBL Result code 00
IBL: Booting from NOR

At that point, I confirmed that the program counter of core 0 was in a loop shown in the following picture.
(The loop is at 0x9e008278 - 0x9e008280. ) 

For the TFTP boot, I have the same problem. The core 0 is trapped in the same loop.

When I ran the image using CCS, the core 0 is trapped in the same loop too.
I followed the instruction of the Wiki:

When I use the image of the MAD loader example (mcsdk_2_00_07_19\tools\boot_loader\mad-utils\mad-loader\examples) instead of the image processing demo, I have the same problem too.

I'm using mcsdk_2_00_07_19.
My TMDXEVM6678L board passes the POST test.

Did you connected a UART and checked the output. It might be possible that the code ran through completeion.

Thank you for your reply.
I connected a UART. So I confirmed that the IBL message was displayed from the UART.

IBL version: 1.0.0.13
IBL: PLL and DDR Initialization Complete

IBL: Booting from NOR

But no output appeared from the image processing demo after the IBL message.
I can see the demo output such as the IP address information from the UART when I ran the demo in non-MAD image with CCS.
I guess that the core falls into the infinite loop somewhere in the MAD loading process.
