AM5746: Package-discontinued and redesigned

Guru 10275 points

Part Number: AM5746

Hi Support Team,

The documentation regarding this redesign states the following.

www.ti.com/.../slaz774a.pdf

Explanation
The TDA2P, DRA7xxP, and AM574x devices in the FCCSP package technology were redesigned using an
FCBGA package. This FCBGA package offers datasheet-equivalent electrical and thermal performance – all
specifications from the datasheet noted below apply. It is also footprint-equivalent to the original package.
When referencing the device data sheet, use the new package designator in place of the discontinued package
designator throughout the document.

Is my understanding correct that the 24 added pins; from 760 to 784, are NC pins?

Also, while the model number changes, since only the part indicating the package changes,
is my understanding correct that the following CTRL_WKUP_STD_FUSE_DIE_ID_2[31:24] remains unchanged?

Best Regards,
Kanae

  • Hi,

The new package will have the same 760 ball footprint, so the picture on the right is not correct.

The BASE PN field will stay the same as long as the same part number is used.  However, not all ABZ part numbers will be made available in the AQF variant.  You can refer to the PCN document for info on which new part numbers are recommended.

    Regards,

    Kyle

  • Hi Kyle,

Thank you for your prompt reply.
Could you please reply to the following additional questions?

    Kyle said:

Q1. The picture above is included in the following document. Are you saying that this document is incorrect?

Q2. The customer is using AM5746. Since the document mentioned above states the following, is it correct to understand that AM5746 is available in the AQF variation?

Q.3 Also, since the PCN is scheduled to be issued in September 2027 on the following site,
does this mean we cannot obtain accurate information until then?
    RE: AM5746: AM574x Package Discontinued

Please provide accurate information on the redesigned AM576x so that we can explain it to our customers.

Q4. Please also respond to the following questions I raised in my previous post.

Also, while the model number changes, since only the part indicating the package changes,
is my understanding correct that the following CTRL_WKUP_STD_FUSE_DIE_ID_2[31:24] remains unchanged?

  • Q1.  The existing document only gives the package diagram for the APB package, which is the new package for the previous ACD part numbers.  We are currently updating the document to include the AQF package diagram.

Q2.  The important detail is the x... which should be interpreted as wild-cards.

Q3.  What is the full part number you are trying to replace?  Even though the full mapping is not available yet we should be able to tell you the proposed new part number for your original part number.

    Regards,

    Kyle

  • Hi Kyle,
    Thank you for your reply.

    Additional follow-up regarding Q1:
When will the updated documentation with the AQF package figure be released?

    Additional follow-up regarding Q2:
I assumed you understood that the AM574x is only available in the “ABZ” variant,
and the table in the documentation shows that ‘AQF’ corresponds to “ABZ”
for other part numbers as well. Is there documentation available for other variations?

    Regarding Q3:

  • Hi Kanae,

Q1: Updates to the "Package-discontinued and redesigned" notice will be available in ~2 weeks.

Q2: I will email you the package diagram for AQF so that you have the info now, and not have to wait for our documentation cycle.

    Regards,

    Kyle

  • Hi Kyle,

    Thank you for your support.
I received your email with the attached file containing the package diagram for AQF.
I will share it with my customer.

Could you please also answer my first post, which is stated below.

Also, while the model number changes, since only the part indicating the package changes,
is my understanding correct that the following CTRL_WKUP_STD_FUSE_DIE_ID_2[31:24] remains unchanged?

  • Hi Kyle,

    Thank you for your support.

    I have an additional question.
Will the recommended temperature profile described in the following document change as a result of this update?

Application Report: AM57xx BGA PCB Design
    https://www.ti.com/lit/an/spraca4/spraca4.pdf?

    Best Regards,
    Kanae

  • Hi Kanae,

That register value should not change if the new part is the AM5746AQFX.

    Regards,

    Kyle

  • The temp profile does not change.

    Regards,

    Kyle

  • Hi Kyle,

    Thank you for your support.

Since your reply stated “should not change” rather than “will not change,”
does this mean that, basically, no changes are expected?
If there are any apparent differences in the values, when will this become clear?

    Best Regards,
    Kanae

  • Hi Kyle,

    Thank you for your support.

After checking the updated document, I found that the link to the product site in Japanese site is showing an error.

I checked the following sites and confirmed that both the Japanese and English versions are available.
Please correct the link to the product site and also include a link to the English version.

    www.ti.com/.../jajz046b.pdf
    www.ti.com/.../slaz774b.pdf

Additionally, please provide a response to the following question I posted previously.

Since your reply stated “should not change” rather than “will not change,”
does this mean that, basically, no changes are expected?
If there are any apparent differences in the values, when will this become clear?

    Best Regards,
    Kanae
