TDA4VM-Q1: OPSI to EMMC bootup

Hello TI experts,

On J721E with OSPI boot fuses, is it supported or feasible to flash a custom SBL(tiboot3.bin) to OSPI that loads tifs.bin and subsequent appimages from eMMC instead of OSPI? The goal is to keep boot fuses unchanged while doing OTA on eMMC. We see sbl_mmcsd.c and sbl_emmc.c exist alongside sbl_ospi.c in the PDK.

If there is any reference or ticket would be fine as well.

Yes It is possible, but we haven't tried this yet.

Hi,

Technically it is possible however, we don't have any reference from TI SDK for the same in RTOS SDK.

What is need for booting other imgaes like tifs.bin and subsequent applicaiton images from eMMC, is it because of your OSPI flash size is smaller?

As you are aware of eMMC is slower than OSPI, impacts the boot time.

You can use SPL boot flow instaed SBL, and change at u-boot to switch to eMMC for file system and Linux image.
