Is it possible the serial console messages on LCD in u-boot?

Is anyone having  idea or any suggetions about  my query ,pls...

You can redirect the console to lcd by passing the appropriate device name in the bootargs "console=/dev/xxx"

      I am facing the issue to redirect the console to LCD on omap3 .As you suggested it by changing  in the bootargs  as  "console=/dev/xxx".But its not working in my case .i have tried it by using console=/dev/fb0

                                      console=/dev/video1

                                       console=/dev/video2.

its not working .can you please suggest me what to do.thanks in advance.

                 Thanks for the Reply. I got the Kernel log on LCD but ,Actually my requirement is on the the boot loader .I want to get the uboot console on the LCD. Do we have any flags same as in kernel.

It will be definitely possible. But you'll end up writing a lot of code. You have to add an LCD driver, you have to write a code to convert the fonts to a bitmap etc. There are no ready made stuff available.

      Thanks for your immediate reply.Actually in my case the LCD driver is there and i have already enable the splash screen at bootup.Is there any way to get the console log instead of the BMP Image(Splash screen).

If this is a must, then you can attempt the following.

1. Create a small code based where it will convert the ascii characters to bitmaps. This code might be available somewhere online. 

2. Integrate that to u-boot.

3. Redirect printf output to this bitmap drawing functions, then all the prints will get redirected to lcd. But it may not be so easy, as you have to support scrolling etc etc.. You might as well take a look at kernel's implementation of the console ouptut.

i wanted to display the bootlog on the lcd too. I tried the Kernel Boot Options, but its not workin. And redirect the console to tty0 (fbcon) isnt working too. And if i try to echo sth to the lcd, there isnt any output.

Only the background font was displayed as a black line.

Can anybody help me?

i use the kernel 3.2 on sdk version 05.04.01.00 on the am335x evm.

I am not able to recollect this properly, but have you tried bootargs "console=/dev/fb0"?

To get a uboot LCD console, you could start with the uboot logo video driver cpde described here:

And then the big task would be to add fonts and text rendering to uboot.  Have a look at the StarterWare for code.

i tried /dev/fb0, /dev/tty0 and some more tty's and its not working. I should try it on another board with another architecture. Redirect the console output to another device should working.
