Hi,

I am new user for Texas Instrument products, and recently I have bought TMS320C6748 DSP Development Kit (LCDK). My work is to design a real time vibration signal processing system. My question is does this kit content built in ADC or I have to buy separate chip to achieve signal conversion. If I need to buy a chip, can you please give me some suggestion. Any help will be highly appreciated.

Hi Alaa Jaber,

The 6748 LCDK doesn’t have in build ADC chip .You need to have a separate ADC to achieve signal conversion .The SPI signals are brought out via LCDK expansion connector, you can prefer SPI based ADC for glue-less interface to the C6748 device.

You can refer TI ADC product portfolio for the right ADC feature, sampling rate, channels…etc.

Alaa,

Please look through the documentation for the LCDK to see if the audio codecs are good enough for what you need to do. Vibration measurements could be low enough in frequency to work. You can find the components from the LCDK documentation and see what their specifications are.

Let us know if you have design specifications that do not match what you can get from the LCDK.

Hi RandyP,
I have a similar question. Can the audio port on the LCDK be used as a general purpose A/D converter? If yes, what's the highest sampling rate and resolution?
