Hello,

I'm interested in the EVM TMDSICE3359 and have the following two questions:

1. What is the power dissipation of the Board?

2. Is the EtherCAT stack included in the SDK/BSP for TMDSICE3359?

3. Is there any Datasheet for the product? I know that the board is a revised version of TMDXICE3359 and got the Datasheet of the older version, but I was not able to find a Datasheet for TMDSICE3359.

Hi Dimitar,

Thanks for your interest in the ICE EVM. Here is some information you might find useful:

1. I don't think we have figures for the ICE total power dissipation. Here is a link for the AM335X power consumption in different operating modes: http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/AM335x_Power_Consumption_Summary

2. The SYS/BIOS SDK (http://www.ti.com/tool/sysbiossdk-ind-sitara) provides evaluation version of the EtherCAT protocol stack.

The full EtherCAT stack is available form http://www.ethercat.org/. I think you have to become a member in order to access it. You may find this thread useful too for implementing the stack: http://e2e.ti.com/support/arm/sitara_arm/f/791/t/206090.aspx

No, the TI EZSDK does not support the ICE board. However there are a lot of posts on this forum by people who have ported it themselves.

Hi Biser,

Is it possible to use EtherCAT and IEEE 802.3 Ethernet simultaneously?

I read in some threads that it was not possible with the old ICE "TMDXICE3359" to drive IEEE 802.3 Ethernet and EtherCAT together at the same time, for example if you have one application dealing with EtherCAT and another dealing with "http" requests. It is also mentioned that there will be an MUX implemented on the current ICE. According to the block diagram of TMDSICE3359 there is now MUX on the board. But it is not clear, if EtherCAT and "usual" Ethernet can be driven simultaneously.

Yes, both of the Ethernet PHYs can be connected either to the PRU (for EtherCAT) or the CPSW (for standard Ethernet). I'm not sure what software support is currently available, though.

The way the board was designed it is not possible to use " standard" ethernet and EtherCAT at the same time.

Oh, then i have to search for another. Can you reccomend me one, that support EtherCAT and Ethernet at the same time?

This board does not allow both, Ethernet and EtherCAT at the same time, as explained in my previous post.

One possible solution is to use AM335x IDK board that comes with EtherCAT and a standard Ethernet port and you will need to add, by yourself, the Ethernet software, because our IDK SW does not support it.
