Advice on designing a guitar effects pedal?

Hi, everyone!

I'm in my last year at the university, and I wanted to design a digital guitar effects pedal for my final project.

The idea would be to use the PCM3060 CODEC for A/D - D/A conversions, using a low power dsp chip for sound effects( I have a TSM320VC5507 chip), and creating a user interface which can modify the parameters of the effects( I'm using PIC micro controller for this). The question is could I use the TMS320VC5507 for this application? If not, what dsp chip would be ideal - with minimal price.

Thank you very much for the quick reply. I saw that the mcbsp can be used for I2S communication, and that the dsp can be used to directly interface SDRAM. Now I can work with my pcb designing.

Which device you plan to use? Only C5517 supports McBSP. C5515 and family do not.

I sill have one question about I2S <-> MsBSP connection. As far as I understood I could use one clock line for both ADC output and DAC input, so SCKL1/2 is connected to CLKX0 ( I'm using channel 0). The data lines are obvious: Dout -> DR0, Din <- DX0, but then the LRCK1/2 has to be input also, so I could connect LRCK1 <- FSX0, and LRCK2 <- FSX1 , BCLK1 -> CLKR0, BCLK2 -> CLKR1( I need to use another channel for output). Or should I use the PCM3060 as slave ADC/ master DAC with BCLK1 <- CLKX0, LRCLK1 <- FSX0, Din <- DX0 / BCLK2 -> CLKR0, LRCLK2 -> FSR0, Dout <- DR0, and use different pin for sourcing clock for the CODEC? Which method would be better?

I still got a question. I think I managed to understand the mcBSP i2s interface, but as I see the frame i/o can't be used as LRCLK, and I don't know from where to get the CLK for the CODEC. Also At the Parallel interface: Could I use the LQFP packaged dsp with a 16bit SDRAM?
