CRITICAL design MISTAKE on all Keystone I devices about RESET, any workaround?!

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SYSBIOS

Hi Raja and et al,

Here is the background.

C6670 re-latched DEVSTAT after Hard or soft reset !why?

Since there were no further responses so I post a new post here.

I found the DEVSTAT is still re-latched after both hard or soft reset ! It is not acting as the Datasheet descripts.

TI Guru comfirmed this design mistake on all Keystone I devices.Any workaround?! Thank you,Raja and et al !

  • Frank,

At the moment given the design issue with the soft and the hard reset, I think you will need to use the ROM re-entry function after you change the DEVSTAT. I know you mentioned that this didn`t work reliably for you as there were some instabilities but I wonder if you were shutting down the SYSBIOS correctly before doing the ROM re-entry. This approach doesn`t give you the functionality of reset of putting the device in the clean state but you might be able to clean the device state by safely shutting down your sysbios application.

Please refer to the following post for how to shutdown sysbios and restart it.

Can you confirm that you have tried this ?

  • Rahul,
    Thanks for your reply!

Yes, In the past few days, I had noticed the post you pasted above and have tried to exit BIOS.But still have instability problems. However,I have designed another method to re-boot before BIOS started. That seems work.

I will give further progress after most test. :)

    Frank
  • Hi Frank,

Could you please share the another method(re-boot) you are following for this case? This could help me understand more.

    Thank you.
