using of FatFS Library with TI-RTOS Project

hello colleagues,

am trying to add FAT library to my project, i am using TI-RTOS with TIVA C development kit

after adding #include ff.h or diskio.h header files,

an error appear( # 41 expected an identifier)

any one have a procedure to do so.

Hi Samer,
We have a Fatfs module as part of SYS/BIOS (the TI-RTOS kernel). In your TI-RTOS product you can find all the needed header files at <TI-RTOS_INSTALL_DIR>/products/bios_6_xx_xx_xx/packages/ti/sysbios/fatfs. Try using the one we provide by using #include <ti/sysbios/fatfs/ff.h> and #include <ti/sysbios/fatfs/diskio.h>.
If you're using an SD card as your disk, we have a SDSPI TI-RTOS driver and examples that you can use to get started.
Also I'd like to know what version of TI-RTOS you're using and what you're trying to achieve here, it'll help me answer your questions better.

am using the latest version of ti-rtos 2.14.00.10,

my goal is log some hex data on sd card.

i will try this method and let you know :)

it worked,
but now i am trying to use f_print f function,
after i modified the ffconf.h file still have linker error?? :(

hello sasha,

am using the fatsdraw example,

the error as follow:

#10010 errors encountered during linking; "fatsdraw_TivaTM4C129XNCZAD.out" not built
#10234-D unresolved symbols remain fatsdraw_TivaTM4C129XNCZAD
unresolved symbol f_printf, first referenced in ./fatsdraw.obj

Please print the complete linker command line. It seems that the library that delivers f_printf is missing.
Also, there should be a file linker.cmd in your Debug or Release directory. Can you attach that too?
Were there any warning during compilation?

dear sasha,

i just imported the fatsdraw_DK_TM4C129X_TIVA C example, i leave it as is, i just added f_printf() line , then i have that errors.

Samer,
after making changes to ffconf.h (setting _USE_STRFUNC to 1) I had to rebuild SYS/BIOS before rebuilding the example. The process of rebuilding SYS/BIOS is described in the SYS/BIOS User's Guide, available in the directory 'docs' of your SYS/BIOS installation. Look for the section "Rebuilding SYS/BIOS".
Here is a somewhat shortened description of what you need to do:
1. go to the top SYS/BIOS directory, in my case it's C:/ti/tirtos_tivac_2_14_04_31\products\bios_6_42_03_35 and edit the file bios.mak.
2. Look for the line XDC_INSTALL_DIR and set it to your XDCtools installation. In my case, it's c:/ti/xdctools_3_31_02_38_core
3. Look for the lines starting with ti.targets.arm.elf.M3, ti.targets.arm.elf.M4, and ti.targets.arm.elf.M4F. Set all these values to your TI ARM compiler path, something like C:/ti/ccsv6/tools/compiler/ti-cgt-arm_5.2.6.
4. Run the command c:/ti/xdctools_3_31_02_38_core/gmake -f bios.mak. This will take some time.

After that, you should have SYS/BIOS rebuilt with f_printf available in the fatfs library. Then, try rebuilding your example.

i make all the above steps but it seems like my host computer has an issue, it gave me an error ( gmake: bios.mak:no such file or directory.

anyway thank you sasha for the helpful info.

Hi Moses, I'm following this because we also need to implement FatFS on a Sitara AM3359 CPU and uSD card, to source data for a web server (NDK HTTP server).

We tried the Starterware FatFS implementation, with poor results, because there is no support for reentrancy.

I'm trying to cut&paste code snippets from NDK implementation (syncsysbios.c), but there is no way to open multiple files without having corrupted data read from files or crashing application.

FatFS provided in TIRTOS is implemented only for RAM disk, and this is quite useless.

Is there any implementation for uSD (via HSMMC peripheral) on AM335x CPUs?

I searched and didn’t find any HSMMC uSD implementation to point you to. I found a couple AM3359 uSD related threads over on the Sitara forum:
