While working in a project at the university, I applied 5 V to the GPIO pins through the J-Connectors of a C6713 DSK from spectrum digital. So I damaged the DSP. Now, when I connect the board to my computer, CCS recognizes the board but keeps telling me that the endianness of the DSP is not correct. If I move the DIP 1 from SW3 in order to change the endianness of the board I still get the same result. Flash burn says the same thing about the wrong endianness. If I run the DSK Diagnostics Utility, the "DSP test" fails.
I would like to know if the DSK board from Spectrum Digital has some kind of protection circuits for these GPIO pins of the DSP that I may have damaged after applying 5 V to the pins. Or If I only damaged the DSP.
My question is if I maybe just damaged the DSP or if I maybe only damaged the protection circuit or If I maybe damaged both: the DSP and the protection circuit. I know that it is better to have the board in your hands to give me an accurate answer but, in your experience, what do you think that may have happened?
I am asking this because now I have to replace this damaged board and since I am a student who doesn't have an income it is very difficult for me to buy immediatly a new board. So I am thinking about the possibility of sending the board for a repair to a place where I know that they repair these boards. If they only have to replace the DSP I would save a lot of money. I am sure that all the other elements of the DSK work correctly: the codec, the switches, the leds, etc. and I don't think is worth to buy a new DSK when only the DSP is the damaged part of the old DSK.
What do you think is better: send the DSK for a repair or buy a new one??
