[C5535] Re-Confirm whether there is any problem to power on the USB1.3V domain during RTC-only mode.

Guru 24520 points

Hi TI Experts,

Please let me confirm the following question.

[Question]

Customer said that if supply the power for USB_VDDA1P3 and USB_VDD1P3 during RTC-only mode, the current consumption is about 5mA. And it seems that the 1.3V power source supplied with 3V domain (this power domain is shut down during RTC-only mode) in internal pass.  Would you please provide your comments? Is this phenomenon correct/expected as C5535 behavior?

I had asked the same question before. And I got answers that there is not any problem to supply those domains.
I would like to know the cause for this issue.  Also, if there any solution to avoid this problem by software, please let me know.

My customer request us to fix this problem by end of tomorrow in Japan time(3/2). Please help us.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Best regards.

Kaka

  • I could understand that why this phenomenon is occurred. The cause of this issue is leak current form USB 1.3V domain to USB 3.3V domain.
USB 3.3V is supplied by LDO with discharge circuit. When C5535 entered the RTC-only mode, the LDO is off. As a result the discharge circuit enabled.
Also the USB 3.3V domain has voltage on lines. So it was shorted to GND in this LDO(SII: S-1333).

But I could not understand that why USB 3.3V domain has some voltage druing RTC-only mode.
So, please comments for this with the following E2E post.
