66AK2H12: In search for powerful dual camera development platform

Part Number: 66AK2H12

We've developed a real-time PC-based dual camera eye position tracking algorithm that we want to port to an SoC with some kind of hardware acceleration. It needs to be a powerful platform with lots of processing overhead for proof of concept. My interest was triggered by the 66AK2H12 (4x ARM A15 & 8x C66x DSP), but this platform seems to lack a dual camera interface, am I right? The xCAM platform (TDA2x based) does have the dual cameras, but is less powerful. Are there other options? Preferably we want I2C communication for outputting eye coordinates to a rendering FPGA.

  • Hi Bob,

    You're right.

Yes the TDA2x device are a good choice. You can also explore the DRA74x devices & AM572x devices:

  • Yes, while 66AK2H12 natively doesn`t have a camera interface, you can use PCIE or USB based camera module or network based camera captures to bring in the data into these SOCs. AM571x/TDA2ex devices have integrated Dual camera CSI2 interface and AM572x /TDA2x has a VPE camera interface. The only other option is the TDA3x devices which has vision hardware accelerator (EVE) with dual core DSP and dual core M4 architecture.

For TDAxx devices, please post on auotmotive processors forum:
