Hello,

I'm curious if the TI USB VID/PID program found here:

PDF, redirect to : http://software-dl-1.ti.com/dsps/forms/vidtrackerMature.html

applies to the AM335x processor as well, when used as a peripheral gadget only...??

Hi Matthew,

On the top of the page I see "C2000 or TM4C microcontroller VID/PID Number Generation". This makes me think, the links you have sent do NOT apply to AM335x device.

AM335x USB VID and PID are factory programmed in the usb_vid_pid register. This is a TI issued VID/PID and every AM335x device has the same value. The customer cannot use this VID/PID for a custom product because it is not unique to their product. The VID/PID must be unique for each product because that is how the PC driver software knows what device is attached and the functions supported.

The person that wrote the USB driver being used in the kernel may have selected a VID/PID of another product and designed his or her driver to replicate the operation of the other product.

The customer should modify their code to use a unique VID/PID issued to them for their product rather than using the TI VID/PID.

Hi. Thank you. This provided link appears to be the most applicable: e2e.ti.com/.../297505. Anyhow, it seems Sitara is not applicable to that VID/PID program I asked about... although there was a later follow-up in the above link that somewhat implies TI may have other options. If so, please let me know. If not, thank you again for the rapid response!
