TMS320DM8147: Ethernet data transfer Issue

We are interfacing TI Processor DM8147 with TI Ethernet Phy DP83867IRPAP, RGMII Interface.

We are using CPSW driver, and with default basic configurations, trying to establish communication.

Hardware strap settings for Ethernet Phy is enabling auto-negotiation and MDIX crossover.

When the link partner is forced to 10Mbps, and 1Gbps, link is established, but failing to transfer packets. However, for 100Mbps, even link is not established.

We are able to access the status registers, where the changes made are reflected accordingly.

Please give your suggestions on the same

Hi Sushruta,

Do you use DM814x EZSDK 5.05.02.00?

Please follow the below wiki page:

You can also check if your PHY is working fine in u-boot stage, before start debugging in kernel stage.

Can you please let me know how to calculate RGMII delay to be set in Phy DP83867?

Please find attached .xls with trace length values of inner and outer layer.

Hi Sushruta,

I am not familiar with DP83867IR Gigabit PHY. For DP83867IR Gigabit PHY specific questions, you should ask/post in the Ethernet forum:

Note also that DP83867IRPAP is used as Gigabit PHY in RGMII mode for the DRA71x (J6Entry) TI EVM. You can check this EVM for HW and SW configuration example.

Thank you for the information.

Now, we are able to get link and ping for 10 and 1000Mbps. However, 100Mbps link up itself fails. Do you suspect anything? Please let us know your thoughts
Is it possible for you to transfer this thread to Ethernet forum?

Check CPSW registers SLx_MACCONTROL and RGMII_CTL, make sure you have the correct values for 100Mbps speed mode.

Check also EMAC[x]_RGRXC and EMAC[x]_RGTXC frequency, it should be 25MHz (max 28MHz, min 23MHz) for 100Mbps mode.
