AM3352: Maximum GPIO source current

I understand that the GPIO is rated at 6mA and at this level the CMOS voltage threshold spec's are met.

I am interested in an absolute max. spec. I would like to understand what the maximum current the GPIO on the Sitara can source without damage. It does not need to be within its voltage interface spec. in this case.

There is no individual specification, however the total current sourced from all pins supplied by the same VDDSHVx power rail must never exceed the maximum current ratings specified in section Table 5-10 of the AM335x Datasheet Rev. J.

The GPIO that I am interested in is supplied from VDDSHV6. The total consumption from this bank supply is well below 100mA.

There is a chance though that a single GPIO may draw approx. 15mA in a product fault state. Is this state going to damage the output driver? I have read that the GPIO can source a lot more than the rated 6mA.

Your design should limit the current draw to the max defined in the datasheet.
