AM5728: Pin drive strength

Hi,

I would like to know the pin drive strength of AM5728.

I already asked this in my previous thread (https://e2e.ti.com/support/arm/sitara_arm/f/791/t/666206 ). And I got some information.

But I need more information regarding "Idrive" parameter.

My customer would like to know "Idrive" . What is "Idrive" used to describe what parameters?

In AM5728 DM, Table 5-17, "Idrive" is written in the below.

"Pin Drive strength at PAD Voltage = 0.45V or VDDS-0.45V"

In datil, where is "PAD voltage" ?

Idrvie =6 mA (min.) with PAD voltage =0.45V or VDDS-0.45V, does this current value shows for each pin? Or does it shows total current value for all pins using same VDDS?

I think this pin is not needed to have the buffer if it is used as 6mA source. Is my understanding right?

Please advise me.

Michi,

The sustained DC specs are stated in the VOL(max) and VOH(min) rows. These are specified at a current of 2mA when the I/O supply is 1.8V and 100uA when the I/O supply is 3.3V. The Idrive is specified as a transient switching current, not a sustained DC current at a specified level. If you need to drive a load that requires a sustained 6mA drive, then a proper driver circuit is required, such as for driving LEDs or solenoids.

Thank you for your quick reply.

I understood the I/O driver current is 100uA when I/O supply is 3.3V.
And Idrive is a transient switching current.
But I don't know why Idrive is stated in DM. Is this needed information for customer's desgin?

Michi,

The Idrive value is not needed for customer's designs. It is a detail that does not need to be in the DM. The JEDEC values of VOL and VOH at the rated current levels are the ones needed by customers.
