Hello All,

Recently we have brought up AR0220 camera sensor + UB953/UB954 SERDES on TDA2Px-EVM.

In our sensor code "iss_sensor_ar0220.c" at "vision_sdk/apps/src/rtos/iss/src/sensor/ar0220", we have set the dataformat to "SYSTEM_DF_BAYER_BGGR" & our AR0220 sensor is a RCCB sensor.

On HDMI display (with ISS single capture usecase), we are getting monochrome video. So does it have to do anything with the "SYSTEM_DF_BAYER_BGGR" data format ?

For RCCB sensor, what data format needs to be set in the code. How do we get color video output on HDMI display with RCCB sensor ?

RCCB is not officially supported in Vision SDK, so colors will not look correct. However, a monochrome image is not expected. You can use one of the Bayer formats. Please check the phase of RCCB and set the format accordingly.

So we have already set one of bayer data format i.e. SYSTEM_DF_BAYER_BGGR.
However, I did not understand what you mean by "check the phase of RCCB". Exactly where Do I need to look .

There are 4 possibilities - SYSTEM_DF_BAYER_BGGR, SYSTEM_DF_BAYER_RGGB, SYSTEM_DF_BAYER_GRGB, SYSTEM_DF_BAYER_GBGR

depending on which color is the first in the 2x2 grid.

Hi Mayank,

You said in your earlier reply that RCCB is not officially supported in Processor SDK.
So If I want to add support for RCCB in PSDK 03.03, can you tell what all need to be done.

Hello Abhay,

For image capture purpose, you may treat RCCB as Bayer since it is the same bitwidth, You will be able to pass the image through ISP and get a YUV output which can be displayed by DSS> However, the image will not look pretty. To get good image quality, you will need to tune iSP. For that you will need to get information on tuning from the sensor manufacturer (OnSemi)

Hi Mayank,

So you mean to say there is no need to add support for new RCCB sensor in PSDK 03.03 and we can treat RCCB sensor as Bayer sensor by selecting the data format as "SYSTEM_DF_BAYER_RGGB" (which we have already done is our code). Correct me if I am wrong.
And for tuning ISP, can't we use TI DCC tool instead ? We will contact OnSemi for information on sensor tuning.

Can you tell us whether we need any data/files from OnSemi for AR0220 camera sensor which is required by DCC tool as an input ?

DCC tool does not support RCCB. You will need to tune CCM, CFA etc manually. You will also need to develop new AE and AWB algorithms.

Hi Mayank,

We contacted OnSemi for information on ISP tuning as you had suggested. But OnSemi says they have no information on tuning ISP from TI.
And also as TI DCC tool doesn't support RCCB (AR0220 sensor), then can you suggest any other tool that we can use or we will have to do it manually ?
As we do not have any experience in manually tuning stuff, can you give any link which has the detailed procedure that we can refer to achieve this.

I will not suggest trying tuning without any tuning experience. TI will not be able to support this.

There are 3rd party companies which specialize in ISP tuning. We strongly advise engaging with them.

But can you tell us whether there is any other tool which you know of, and that we can use for ISP & camera sensor tuning. So that we can further look into it.
