RTOS/XEVMK2LX: How to enable UART1 on K2L EVM board

Part Number: XEVMK2LX

Tool/software: TI-RTOS

Hello, I saw another post that went unanswered, and I have the same problem: [ https://e2e.ti.com/support/processors/f/791/t/679812?tisearch=e2e-sitesearch&keymatch=enable%20uart1  ]

I have verified UART1 is working in loopback mode, but it does not actually transmit anything through the CN2 pins.

I found this post here: [ http://e2e.ti.com/support/processors/f/791/t/313141?tisearch=e2e-sitesearch&keymatch=uart1%20keystone ] and set GPIO pin 11 as an output pin and then set it to 0 - but I still am not getting anything out of my UART1 pin 93 (tx) on the CN2 connector.

Can you please direct me to what I need to do to set the mux correctly so that I can transmit from UART1?

UART0 works fine, but I need to tx/rx with both.

  • It's important to note that the UART1 does go through a TI demux chip (SN74LVC1G19DCKR) for it's TX line and a TI mux chip (SN74LVC2G157DCUR) for its RX line. It's not documented what the default behavior of this chip is, nor how to control it so that the signal going out goes to the expansion (CN2) connector.

This is per schematic drawing found on pg 3 of the einfochips EVM board documentation [ https://www.einfochips.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/TCIEVMK2LX_SCH_16-00176-02.pdf ].

Also, this question was posted two months ago [ http://e2e.ti.com/support/processors/f/791/t/742113 ] by someone who I am working this project with - with no response. I would like to have this escalated if it can be done, so that we can determine the answer to this as soon as possible.
