Hi there

can I debug/download software to the TMDXICE110 eval board by using a FTDI chip connected to the JTAG interfce (USB -> FTDI -> JTAG/RS232 of the AMIC110 )?

what is the difference between the XDS100 and the XDS200 emulator? Is it possible to use an XDS510 USB from spectrum digital since I have such a emulator from my previous C2000 designs?

Hi,

Please check www.ti.com/.../spruie6a.pdf The AMIC110 ICE supports a compact TI 20-pin connector in the design. An external emulator and debugger pod, such as the XDS100 or the XDS200, should be connected to the 20-pin connector for JTAG connectivity.

You can use an FTDI USB-to-3.3V TTL cable for connecting the RS232 interface (J3). See www.ftdichip.com/.../DS_TTL-232R_CABLES.pdf for details.

Is it possible to use an XDS510 USB from spectrum digital since I have such a emulator from my previous C2000 designs?

I am not sure if XDS510 will support Cortex-A8. I suggest you ask Spectrum Digital if this emulator is OK for AM335x processors. It will also need to have a cTI-20 cable.
