Linux/AM5718: Random reboot issue

We have used AM5718 processor in our custom board. During the kernel booting process, we have encountered a random/abrupt reboot issue. Please refer our H/W details for your reference.

Custom Board H/W & S/W Details:

2.DDR Size: 512MB
3.PMIC IC: TPS6590379
4.PSDK: 5.03.00.07
5.KERNEL Version: 4.14.79

The information you have provided is not enough to determine the root cause. Please provide the log file and describe what hardware is connected to the processor.

We have used an SD card based booting method for our custom board (AM5718) & following peripheral device's are connected to the TI AM5718 processor.

1.ETHERNET (DP83822)
2.HDMI (TPD12S016)
3.WIFI (ESP32)
4.EMMC (SDINBDG4-32G-I1)
5.FPGA (10M04SAU169C8G)

Hello Suresh,

Please, see this post. In most cases, the random reboot issue is caused by the hardware problems. What is the status of USB and PCIe on your board? I would also suggest you to strip down the device tree to bare minimum (e.g. pretty much just the UART, I2C, MMC, and PMIC) and check whether the board continues to reboot.

Thanks for your prompt replay.

We have followed below steps as per your reference E2E post's, but we couldn't get succeed & still faced the kernel reboot issue.

#1. setenv optargs 'nomodule'
#2. Use barminimum dtsi file for kernel (UART,I2C,EMMC & PMIC)

Here we have attached the bare minimum dtsi file & Kernel reboot logfile for your reference.

Does your board reboot because of 4e000000.dmm? Can you disable Device Drivers ---> Graphics support ---> < > OMAP DRM in the kernel's ARCH=arm make menuconfig and make the &gpu and &dss status disabled in the am57xx-idk-common.dtsi?

Hi Kemal,

Good News. The issue root cause is input power. After we have adjusted the input voltage then the platform gets booted the KERNEL successfully & we can also access the console.
