RTOS/TMS320C6657: Need Linux Download for TI C6000 Code Generation Tools for 8.0.1 install

Part Number: TMS320C6657
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CCSTUDIO

Tool/software: TI-RTOS

I'm trying to import a project that was originally created under CCStudio 7.0 with CGT-C6000  8.0.1 into my linux development environment, for some bug fixes.  I get an error that won't let me import the project because it was build with the C6000 8.0.1 compiler.  It won't import even though I have 8.1.8 installed.

I've been able to find CGTOOLS c6000 compilers in the 7.4 and 8.1 releases, but nothing for 8.0.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

mark

  • Hi Mark,

The CGTools are part of the CCS download. Can you try downloading the exact CCSv7.0 from this link:

    Best Regards,
    Yordan

  • Hi Yordan,

I didn't have any luck.  I looked at all of the manifests for the different versions of CCS 7.x, and they all come with C6000 CGT 8.1.  Which I am also able to download directly from TI.  I looked at the manifests for older and newer versions of CCS (v5.4 to v7.3) and wasn't able to find one with the C6000 8.0 release.  It looks like it skipped from C6000 7.4 to C6000 8.1.

Is there anyway import a project with the newer 8.1 compiler?

Maybe I could manually edit the .ccsproject, .cproject, and .project files if necessary?

    Thanks,
    Mark

  • Hi Mark,

I am not sure about the compatibility between different tools. Let me check that with the design team.

    Best Regards,
    Yordan

  • Thanks Yordan,

I was able to obtain C6000 CGT 8.0.4, but that still didn't work.

    1. I uninstalled C6000 support in CCS
    2. Went to Help->Install New Software...
    3. Selected Work with: "Code Generation Tools Updates..."

The only thing available was the C6000 CGT for 8.0.4 or a 7.4.x of some variant.

With the 8.0.4 installed I got a similar error trying to import the project:

Error: Import failed for project 'C6657boot' because its compiler definition is not available. The project does not appear to be a 'CCS Project'. Please try importing it through the 'General > Existing Projects into Workspace' wizard.

  • Mark,

I have attached the installer for the version of the compiler that you are looking for:

File Removed  (Refer download link in subsequent  E2E post)

Please let us know if this resolves the issue by marking the issue resolved.

    Regards,

    Rahul

PS: The version of the compiler should be compatible with later compiler 8.x version so I am not sure why the CCS GUI is reporting incompatibility issue. You may want to go into build settings and point to later version of the compiler as there have been several update to the CGT 8.x that you may be missing in the initial 8.0 compiler which introduced support for ELF binary format.

  • Thanks Rahul,

Once I get the project imported, i'm planning op upgrading the compiler rev as you suggested.

  • Mark,

I have remove the attached installer file and provided you with an official download link from which legacy version of compiler:
