TDA4VMXEVM: [TDA4M] Single camera capture is not working

Hi,

I'm evaluating On Semi AR0323 sensor in TDA4EVM + custom AR0323 sensor board (AR0323 sensor board was ok in TDA2PXEVM) with PSDKRA v0.9.
AR0323 sensor driver and camera app were made by referring to imx390 and app_single_cam.
I think sensor configuration is ok and sensor stream on command works as well. I2C reading and writing to sensor are all ok. Display output is ok when run_app_tidl.sh is used.
But sensor capture and display are not working.

Which point should I check out?

  • Hi Kim,

        How are you connecting AR0323 sensor board to TDA4EVM? Is it through FPD link? If yes, then there are some registers in the de-serializer which can tell you about how many lines or frames you have received. You can check these registers for more details. e.g. 'CSI0_FRAME_COUNT_HI/LO' in UB960. Check for the values of these registers once sensor starts sending out the data.

     Also, can you look at the CSIRX configures done in the application and see if it is matching with the expectations?

    Look for following configurations:

    1. The expected data type of the channel

    2. The expected resolution of the channel

    The AR0323 sensor board was connected without ser-des. So configuration related with UB960 is not necessary.

    I changed the size of sensor output size, 1920x1080 or larger size, but the result was the same.

    Can you explain more detaily about  1. The expected data type of the channel?

    If you are starting an OnSemi sensor, it is better to start with AR0233 driver.

    Can you please provide us some more details:

    1. What is the sensor resolution?

    2. What is the sensor output format - Is it 12b Bayer?

    3. How many CSI lanes are enabled? Does the configuration match between sensor settings and TDA4 driver?

    4. Are you able to probe the sensor chip_id register, which is usually at address 0x3000 in the sensor

    5. Can you please try enabling test pattern from the sensor?

    I compared it with AR0233 driver (@psdkra v0.91), but I could not find any clues.

    1. resolution is 1920x1080
    2. format is 12bit bayer, exactly RCCB format but there's no problem in working except image quality
    3. 4lanes, same with imx390 driver
    4. chip_id was read as 3414 (0x0d56), it's same with datasheet. There's no problem i2c rd/wr, and  stream on/off are working (reg 0x301a)
    5. I will try test pattern, but I assume the result will be the same.

    Can you give me any information from tiovx log?
    I'm not sure tiovx kernel is working correctly or mipi-csi2 capture is not working.

  • If test pattern does not work:

    1. Take a snapshot of CSI2 registers and share with us

    2. Please ensure that the correct initialization sequence is followed. It is very important that sensor streaming is NOT enabled during the config function. It must be enabled only in StreamON.

  • raw capture is working by save_debug_images() in app_single_cam.
    But there're no further operation.
