TAS3108: Connecting external clock on XTALI pin

Part Number: TAS3108

Hi,

Greetings.

Our customer uses the TAS3108 in their project and it is done using crystal oscillator between XTALI and XTALO pins. Now, they need to upgrade with a more precise oscillator, they think to use a TCXO active clock device. Unfortunately at the status of their project it is very complicated to connect the clock at MCLKI pin like the datasheet suggest. They say, it should be easy for them to connect to XTALI(after reducing the clock signal from 3.3v to 1.8V because xtali accept max 1.8v lvcmos logic).

They want to know if they can use XTALI like an external clock input respecting the 1.8V level specified on the datasheet.

I would appreciate your help on this matter.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Cedrick

Unfortunately we will not be able to provide any guidance on this query.

I hope to have the product folder to soon have the following special note added to it - to help level set on the support expectations for this family.

No TI direct design support available

This product does not have ongoing direct TI design support for new projects, such as new content or software updates. If relevant existing collateral, software and tools are available, you can find them on the product folder. You may also search for archived information in the TI E2ETM support forums.
