DSI interface design for TDA4VM

Hi,

The DSI signals pass through the B2B connector in J721E EVM. It also connected to a FPC connector. I want to know if there is any limitation for DSI passing through B2B connector.

In my system, the DSI only needs to pass through one high speed (8GHz bandwidth) B2B connector. Is there any special treatment needed to be implemented?

Best Regards

Fei Chen

  • Hi Chen,

It should not be, but i am not expert. we need to check with HW team.

HW team is on vacation in this week due to thanksgiving. We can get back to this question in the next week.

  • DSI interface can operate a max of 2.5Gbps (1.25GHz).  Its is considered a high speed interface, and should be treated with care.  B2B connectors bandwidth specifications are often not reliable, thus recommended getting S-param model for connector and simulating in your design ensure signal quality is maintained.  Be sure to follow the connector grounding method as recommended by manufacturer.  It is important to ensure the PCB maintain a uniform impedance for the DSI traces, and minimize the number of vial.  Attached is a preliminary High Speed Guideline document for Jacinto7.  Note this is preliminary, and some changes still being made.J7ES High Speed Interface Board Design Guide_0v1.pdf
