AM3358: dts config for AM3358 for McASP0

Hello,

I am wondering if the current thread is related to the following query. As I mentioned earlier, please refer to the following files as a reference:

3. Sound Card Setup: https://git.ti.com/cgit/ti-linux-kernel/ti-linux-kernel/tree/arch/arm/boot/dts/am335x-evm.dts?h=linux-4.19.y#n160

Have you tried to modify your <am335x_board>.dts file with the above recommended changes. If yes, please share the errors that you have encountered. If all the changes are made, boot Linux on your board and either run aplay or arecord to test your configuration. 
1. aplay: https://linux.die.net/man/1/aplay
2. arecord: https://linux.die.net/man/1/arecord
In aplay/arecord, you could specific your channels/formats/sampling frequency and if the configuration is correct, you should be able to record/playback on your devices.

Hello,

1. Aren't you trying to connect the tlv320dac3100 to the McASP? Based on the am335x dts file, you have tda19988 connected to the McASP. Please share a system level block diagram of your setup.

2. If it is okay with you, please just focus on am335x-boneblack.dts and not add overlays/fragments. Once you have a working setup, please feel free to add/remove extra components from the DT file.

1. I am using BBGW not black, just the dts files we have used are for boneblack.

2. I have my BBGW connected to TLV DAC then further speakers are connected to TLV DAC

3. I have used the dts file directly from a reference and we dont have tda19988.

4. Yes i agree to your suggestion that we should get the audio part working then we can add other elements to it.

Could you tell what exactly to include in the dts. if you have a dts file that i can refer directly it'd be great.

Step 1: Create a McASP node in your DT. Here is a sample and please modify it based on your HW setup:

Hi Krunal,

I am Anchit's colleague from hardware side.

I have assigned the following pins on AM3358 for mCASP interface.  When I check the MCASP interface on sys config software, It shows the default pins(picture attached) and I am not able to change MCASP to other pins.

Let me know If we can configure these pins for MCASP?

CLK -    mcasp0-aclkx at U2 of Am3358
WS -     mcasp0-fsx at U1 of Am3358
MCLK - mcasp0-ahclkx at T5 of AM3358
SD -      mcasp0-axr0 at U3 of AM3358

Here is the config

1. Do tell that if the dts file that i sent earlier was correct or not 

2. Im getting an error of "blob has incorrect magic number" when compiling my .dts file using 
sudo dtc -I dts -O dtb -o am335x-boneblack.dtb am335x-boneblack.dts

The DT file is correct but you need to update the mcasp0_pins with the pins generated by the pin mux tool.
