AM5749: AM5749/TIOCL FATAL: Failed to open EVE message queue

Hello support!!!

I use ti-processor-sdk-linux-am57xx-evm-06.03.00.106 on am5749.

I should have a possibilityes to use OpenCl, but how I rode here:
e2e.ti.com/.../885722
and here
software-dl.ti.com/.../Foundational_Components_OpenCV.htmlh

I can't understand a little...Is it possible to run OpenCl app on am5749 with ti-processor-sdk-linux-am57xx-evm-06.03.00.106 or not??? Is it support or not?  

1.SGX driver Installed.
2.ti-mctd daemon is started.
3.setupEnv.sh is running.
4.I try to start my app and I see: "TIOCL FATAL: Failed to open EVE message queue".

when I did cat I see:

    OpenCL is supported on AM57x. Please refer to the below link for instructions.

    The error message you shared has nothing to do with OpenCL support.

    I see Caleb was supporting you to debug the error message from e2e.ti.com/.../885722

    I have assigned the thread to Caleb to continue that debugging for the Error message you were seeing. It looks like some issue with dts files.

  • Hi, did you created your SD card using Linux PSDK v6.3 windows image? or in Linux by using "create-sdcard.sh"?. If it is the first case, please try below steps from this E2E

    When creating and SD card using windows PSDK image, there are two copies of IPU1 firmware on the SDCard.  One in the VFAT partition for early reboot, the second one in Linux partition /lib/firmware.  They need to be the same.

    Our Linux create-sdcard.sh takes care of this for you. But, if you created your SD card in any other way, there could be a mistmatch, and you will need to manually copy the correct one:

    Could you please try below and let me know if this works for you?:

    • cp /lib/firmware/dra7-ipu1-fw.xem4.opencl-monitor /run/media/mmcblk0p1/dra7-ipu1-fw.xem4
    • reboot
    • re-test

  •  My problem is much more deeper than I think... In my custom bord, I have only 4 chips (MT41K256M16TW-107) it that mean I no have chip for ECC

    .Now I can't understand how to change (set) the right size of RAM in my DTB(DTS) file...???

    And also I haven't eMMC chip on my dev board too...

    I used the second variant with script, then I check both files and check md5sum and I can suggest that files is identical.

  • When I disable EVE-devices in file ti_mctd_config.json I didnt have any errors with TIOCL FATAL: Failed to open EVE message queue but I know it is not right.

  • Hi Oleg, could you please enable again EVE-devices in ti_mctd_config.json and run "/usr/share/ti/examples/opencl/platforms/platforms"?. I want to see how many EVEs cores do you have. Each core will print: "DEVICE: TI Embedded Vision Engine (EVE)" once.

    Also, could you try to run “systemctl restart tiipclad-daemon” ? just to see if it helps. 

    Finally, what is the output of "cat /sys/kernel/debug/remoteproc/remoteproc0/trace0"?

    I get: can't open '/sys/kernel/debug/remoteproc/remoteproc0/trace0': No such file or directory.

    That is all...

  • Hi Oleg, a couple of questions, did you modified any memory configuration or loaded a customized IPU image? The error seems to indicate IPU tried to access invalid memory. Or any did you do any modification or faced any issue with  PSDK image?

  • Hi Paula, No I didn't nothing....and if you think the reason is: IPU tried to access invalid memory it is may be related with EMIF configuration which I try to resolve and when I finished I will give you the answer something will change or not.
