Unmatched components and unmatched EVM6437 document version

Hello,

I have one question on EVM6437.

In the PCB layout, I have found two chips located at the front and back side of the same location and with designators U502 and U505 respectively. However, these two chips can neither be found in the schematics or its BOM.

I suspect the documents on EVM6437 page are not of the date and revision.

Document

Version

Schematics

04/18/07

PCB design

10/08/10

BOM

02/23/07

Tech Reference

02/23/07

The webpage says Rev. B, but the actual file is Rev. D.

And also relates to the existence of From-To on EVM6437, I strongly suspect that these documents are of different versions of boards, especially between the schematics and PCB file.

Could anyone here confirm for me? May I get the updated files of the same version of board?

Thanks,

Zheng

  • Zheng,

I believe this is part of Spectrum Digital IP associated with their on-board emulation capability.  You will find both the ability to connect an external JTAG emulator to the EVM and also the ability to connect just a USB cable to the EVM to make use of the on-board JTAG emulation.  Again, this is Spectrum Digital IP and therefore they removed it from the BOM, schematics, etc.

You can safely ignore this circuit as you will be using an external JTAG interface anyway.  The schematics should show the connector pin out for the 14-pin connector which is used for the TI JTAG emulation pods.

    Dear Brandon,

I see it. Thanks for the timely answer.
