AM6548: EtherCAT G

Guru 10165 points
Part Number: AM6548

Sitara Support Team,

I understand that both PRU-ICSS and PRU-ICSSG use
almost the same EtherCAT slave firmware at the moment,
is there any plan for the AM65xx PRU-ICSSG
to support EtherCAT G in the future?

I refer to the following sites to inquire,

Best regards,
Kanae

  • EtherCAT is already supported on PRU-ICSSG

You can take a look at

The user guide there will be by end of the week, indicating support for AM65x. You can then download the latest AM65x SDK and start working.

    Regards

  • Hi Vineet,

    Thank you for your reply.

In your post, "EtherCAT is already supported on PRU-ICSSG" means
that PRU-ICSSG supports "EtherCAT G" in the following site?

I could not find about the details of "EtherCAT G" in the PRU_ICSS_EtherCAT_Release_Notes.

If the user guide does not  describe about "EtherCAT G" now, could you please inform me
where I can find the details of "EtherCAT G" in the site you pointed in next week.

    Best regards,
    Kanae

  • Hi Vineet and Sitara Support Team,

I would like to make sure that "EtherCAT G is already supported on PRU-ICSSG" or not?
If it is not supported yet, is there a plan that PRU-ICSSG of AM65xx supports "EtherCAT G" in future?

I have to report this to my customer so I need to have the correct information ASAP.
Your prompt reply would be really appreciated.

    Best regards,
    Kanae

  • Hi Kanae,

Edit : I made a mistake in reading earlier. What TI supports is the regular EtherCAT protocol on ICSS-G devices, not the newer EtherCAT G.

    Regards

    Vineet

  • Hi Vineet,

    Thank you for your support.

I could understand that the PRU_ICSS EtherCAT firmware header in C:\ti\PRU-ICSS-EtherCAT_Slave_01.00.08.01\protocols\ethercat_slave\firmware\g_v1.0 is for the regular EtherCAT (100Mbps) with AM65xx.

My customer would like to verify EtherCAT G from Feb-2020.
Is there plan to support EtherCAT G for AM65xx?

If not, does TI have a plan that TI processor will support  EtherCAT G in future?

    Best regards,
    Kanae

  • Hi Kanae,

    Not in the near future.

Can you tell me more about your requirements ? What is the time frame ? End product etc ?

If not in this forum then please reach out via the TI representative and we can discuss.

    Regards

    Vineet

  • Hi Vineet,

    Thank you for your reply.

Which is quicker to get the result of the discussion as TI,
contacting you by private message or contacting TI local sales?

    Best regards,
    Kanae

  • Hi Kanae,

    You can do both.

Please contact TI local sales, as it gets tracked through a process and send me requirements through a private message, we can discuss the technical issues there.

If nothing else then please accept the suggested answer and I will close this thread.

    Regards

    Vineet
