PROCESSOR-SDK-AM65X: Linux defconfig for TSN

Another way to ask from kernel build link above is what is [device} for AM6548 TSN?

Not obvious from above .txt file or  the cfg files in /linux-5.4.40+gitAUTOINC+66cf445b76-g66cf445b76/ti_config_fragments

Believe the sequence  is:

make ARCH=arm CROSS_COMPILE=aarch64-linux-gnu- am65x_evm_a53_defconfig 
make ARCH=arm CROSS_COMPILE=aarch64-linux-gnu- menuconfig
make ARCH=arm CROSS_COMPILE=aarch64-linux-gnu- zImage

But is this documented anywhere?

The release notes are not reflecting the 7.0. This should be fixed in sometime.
In the meantime you can grep for CPSW_TAS in the linux directory and check out
related files if you want to look at the code.

tisdk_am65xx-evm_defconfig 

ti_sdk_arm64_release_defconfig

What's the difference and which one should I use?

With some hacking (had to move defconfig to /arch/arm/configs directory and changed CROSS_COMPILE=aarch64-none-linux-gnu- from aarch64-linux-gnu- since bin files are different) was able to get below working, but then build errors on zImage

make ARCH=arm CROSS_COMPILE=aarch64-none-linux-gnu- tisdk_am65xx-evm_defconfig
make ARCH=arm CROSS_COMPILE=aarch64-none-linux-gnu- menuconfig
make ARCH=arm CROSS_COMPILE=aarch64-none-linux-gnu- zImage

Is there an equivalent doc for kernel to the uboot above? What an I doing wrong to build a simple (64-bit, first time done plenty on 32-bit) Linux kernel?

you need to use the config for which EVM you are using so for AM6548 EVM. But you have to remember that there is an R5F side also which has  adifferent config than the ubbot. below are some examples that i use.

Below is for the R5F config for uboot

am65x_evm_r5_defconfig 

Below is for A53 for uboot 

 am65x_evm_a53_defconfig 

On the linux side you neeed to use the below config

tisdk_am65xx-evm_defconfig

I now understand the Cortex-R5 needs to be used to boot the Cortex-A53.  But seems like a daunting task without the full docs

(And still getting errors trying to  build the kernel with above commands. Menuconfig and defconfig work. But toolchain seems to be wrong for the kernel)

What is the end objective? Boot flow is well defined. Can you just try the create-sdcard.sh
and prepare an SD card with all the needed images and try to boot.

Just to be correct the create-sdcadr.sh does not work with SDK 7 and it is going to be rmeoved from the sdk release also. It only works for SDK 6.3 adn before that SDK. You have to use mksdboot as below. This assumes your sd card is as /dev/sdb and your sdk directory is ~/ti-processor-sdk-linux-am65xx-evm-07_00_01

sudo ./bin/mksdboot.sh --device /dev/sdb --sdk ~/ti-processor-sdk-linux-am65xx-evm-07_00_01

seems to conflict with the Tools chain page

for building zImage for 64-bit ARM v8.

Am I missing something?

but made much more progress with PROCESSOR-SDK-LINUX-AM65X  07_00_01_06 Build date: 08112020  following

until a similar build error, which feels like toolchain error and will post in a separate E2E.

(Still can't find buliding kernal Image for 64-bit documented anywhere).
